I have received many emails from people stating " I submitted my application for the 1 euro house in Salemi but i haven't had any feedback... What's happening ???" Let me explain. Firstly the Salemi council is still actively working on the Salemi regeneration project. This will happen. Maybe not as soon as we all expected...but sooner hopefully rather than later.
Salemi and it's council administartion in true Italian style announced the 1 euro project before doing their homework. Over a year ago the project was announced and still the council are finalising a delivery plan. Lets put things into perspective. The Salemi regeneration project is a large project for a small council. Italy is famous for its bureaucratic hurdles and here in Sicily is no exception. The council has had to
- confirm title ownership deeds of every individual earthquaked property.
- engage lawyers to ensure correct legal practice
- engage surveyors, architects & engineers
- resolve local issues
Only recently has the Salemi regeneration project been finalised by the council. How much longer do we need to wait ???? Ther is no exact date as yet, but shortly the Salemi regeneration project delivery plan will be finalised and all interested parties will be contacted by the Salemi council to conclude their full application. When you submitted your letter of intent the council registered your details on their database. Even though they may not have replied to you, rest assured your on the list. Please be patient. But i heard that some people have already bought a property in Salemi ???
This is true, but they did not buy a 1 euro property. In fact many investors are already investing in Salemi and buying existing properties on the market.
