Garibaldi 150 years celebrations Salemi.

Next year in 2010 Salemi celebrates the 150 year anniversary of the unification of Italy. It was in Salemi that Giuseppe Garibaldi on May 14^th  1860  proclaimed a united Italy and Salemi became the first capital of Italy, if only for a few days.

In celebration of Garibaldi and the Expedition of the Thousand Salemi is organising a series of local, national and international events.

One major event is the Salemi International Jazz Festival which will see famous jazz players from across the globe visit and perform in Salemi.
